Growth & Development

Our County Volunteering Development Officer is here to support volunteers and to help them recruit new adults and young people. Kent Scouts also has a great range of badges to support growing sections and units.

You can get help with:

  • Group Lead Volunteer or District meetings about growing Scouts
  • Open evenings for sections or groups
  • Starting new sections
  • Sections needing support

Grants for New Sections

Kent Scouts will support new sections opening between 1st April 2025 and 31st March 2026 with a small start-up grant of £250 if the local District agrees to match fund it. You can apply for a grant once you have had your first meeting here.

Please Note: New sections supported by Milly from the Under Represented Communities Project will be able to access a different pot of money instead of this – so they won’t miss out!

New Dreys in areas low on the index of multiple deprivation (IMDs1-5) can also get grants of £500 from HQ and there is more information here:
