The expedition location is in the South Downs, just north-east of Brighton in West Sussex Teams will have the opportunity of walking on the chalk downs with glorious views out to sea, along the Adur valley and in the low-lying rural area to the north of the Downs They will need OS Explorer Map No OS11, Brighton & Hove Our start and finish location, and leaders base camp, is at: Hillside Scout Site, Henfield Road, Small Dole, Henfield, West Sussex BN5 9XJ Grid ref TQ 214 125 Leaders and participants can arrive from 5 00pm on 22 July and ideally be on site by 7 30pm Everyone needs to bring a packed supper, takeaway or eat beforehand Individual Silver participants are welcome and we will do our best to integrate them into existing teams, or if enough join, create a new team Silver teams will spend three days on expedition They can have a remote start if their supervisors can accommodate the transport implications On day 1 they can either camp back at Hillside or on passport at Parkwood Scout Site, Poynings Road, Poynings, Brighton, West Sussex BN45 7BA Grid ref TQ 259 137 On day 2 they can camp again at either Hillside or Parkwood, or cross the Downs to Streamside Scout Site, Coombes Road, Coombes, Lancing, West Sussex, BN15 0RP Grid ref 199 070 (Streamside is only available on Sunday 24 July) On day 3 they finish at Hillside How much does it cost? The cost is £35 per participant for Silver This is payable via bank transfer, details of which will be given upon sign up This includes all camp fees and subsidised leaders’ dinners on expedition nights Leaders and participants will need to arrange their own transport to and from all events, and participants need to be self-sufficient with all equipment, tents, food and stoves to cook for themselves Teams will need to have a qualified supervisor, ideally also with assessor qualifications, or be prepared to assess another team, under supervision of a qualified assessor How do we sign up?
