Kent Scouts raising awareness about the importance of bees and other pollinators

As always our Kent Scouts Community Impact event can be held any time with a focus on the month of October 2024 - we encourage Districts, Groups, Sections and individuals to take part and support the Kent Bee-Keepers’ Association.

A programme of fun & educational activities for all youth sections produced in association with…

"BEE" AWARE OF ASIAN HORNETS: In the meantime, we are being asked to act sooner. All members of Kent Scouts will be receiving some vital information about a major crisis that bees and all other pollinators are facing in the UK. Kent was hit with a wave of Asian Hornets in the summer to autumn of 2023, with 90+ nests destroyed by Government inspectors, and lots more feared next year. Everyone can and should help to contain this invasion by this non-native predator… the handy cards should be made available to all leaders and young people early in 2024 so they and their families can help with the search from February 2024 onwards.

VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM A RISK ASSESSMENT PERSPECTIVE: We are simply asking people to report sightings of potential Asian Hornets – on no account should they try to get too close to them, try to trap them or engage with them!
